Brendon's, Neil's son, diabetes story

In better control with his pump since 2013

Brendon was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on the 10th of October 2013. After 3 days in the hospital, Brendon was released with Insulin pens in hand, and the best advise available. A VEO Medtronic insulin pump was ordered for Brendon immediately on his release from hospital. Due to the fact that Brendon is very young, and is still in pre-school, the insulin pump made his life and the teachers lives so much easier, due to the fact that they were able to control his blood sugar levels very accurately, with no need to administer insulin with pens.  So, gone were the days of constant worries, and most important of all, gone were the days of having to inject every 2 or 3 hours.

From a personal point of view:  Brendon has taken his diabetes in his stride.  He is proud to be different from his class mates, and having the pump on him, has given him more confidence as he knows that the pump will work.

From a farther’s point of view, I could not be prouder of my son.  He is an inspiration to everyone he meets, and he always “explains” to anyone how his pump “works” (You can just imagine how a 5 year old can do that).
